If you wake up in the morning without knowing what to do, if your first thought is not to do anything, if you are tired of your daily routine... then choose to take care of your body and your mind!
Did you know that one of the most relevant causes of happiness is the fact of having a great health not just physically but also psychologically? Yes. That is the reason why each and every person should be aware of the significance of enjoying an active life.
As far as I’m concerned, I consider that people should be more cautious with their diet and watch what they eat. Personally, I dislike fast food and every kind of substance detrimental to one’s health. And of course, I really love doing sports, which are probably the best hobbies you can have because of its importance for our physical and psychological health (obviously, you can’t forget the many intellectual activities you can practise in order to improve both or simply to have a fantastic time!). In my case, for example, I prefer going swimming, running, riding a bicycle or making some gym exercises. One thing I like the most is Martial Arts, which are positive both for your body and mind. Furthermore, as intellectual activities I usually read, write, play chess... It is not as tedious as some people maybe think: you can even paint, listen to music, watch a film or just share a wonderful conversation with somebody to keep your mind active and heatlhy! To conclude, I recommend and invite you to follow my piece of advice because I believe the best option to enjoy a splendid life is having a life without excesses, being careful with our diet and our mental health and being an active person by practising some sport frequently.
I definitely agree with you that health is very important to maintain your well-being. I always avoid fast-food and exercise at the gym a lot. I try and make my own dinners rather than go out to eat at a restaurant. I don't know about Spain, but here if i order something at a restaurant the proportions are so huge they could feed a family of 4. It is ridiculous!
ResponderEliminarYou do well to take care of your body and to be careful with what you eat! Well, here there are also many restaurants which serve huge proportions of food and, YES, that's absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary!
ResponderEliminarHi Marta,
ResponderEliminarI am ProfesoraIowa, the professor of the Iowa students in the blog project. It seems strange to me to write to a Spaniard in English, but I know it is part of our project!
Your topic is very interesting to me. I found an article, which you and Niki can read here: http://mindlesseating.org/lastsupper/pdf/portion_size_me_JADA_2007.pdf
about why Americans eat so much. It is because everything here is so big -- the packages of food in the supermarket, the portions in restaurants, even the plates and bowls. It started in the 1980s when U.S. farmers started to produce lots more food than they had previously. To sell all this food, the American public had to be "trained" to buy more and eat more. So it was actually a planned marketing strategy by the big companies that sell food. I have some old plates, cups, and bowls at my house that were made in the early 1980s, and they are much smaller than these items would be if I bought new ones. It is very bad for our health, and unfortunately the trend to bigger portion sizes seems to be spreading to other countries also.
Es un placer conocerte virtualmente, y seguire leyendo tus entradas.
Muchos saludos,

Hi Marta, I find this blog to be incredibly true! It's very important for us to keep our bodies and our minds healthy. I have recently stopped eating fast food and am in the progress of changing my diet to make it healthier! I also enjoy swimming and running to keep myself active, along with reading to keep my mind equally active. It is an everyday task but is definitely worth it.
ResponderEliminarSo true! Especially in college, it's important to incorporate healthy activities and habits in your daily routines. Since coming to the University I've taken up swimming and running. Not only is it great physical exercise, but a great way to relieve stress!
ResponderEliminarHow interesting that article about the huge portions of food is! Thanks for leaving the web page, ProfesoraIowa! It's also a pleasure to me.
ResponderEliminarOh, thank you very much for all your comments. Taylor and Megan, you also do well to take care of your body! I love swimming too! Nowadays I started to go swimming again, because it was so long I couldn't go and now I do... wow, it's really useful not only to keep fit and to take care of your body (swimming is one of the most important and complete sports you can practice) but also to relieve stress, as Megan said.
Nowadays, I have also changed my diet: I started to not to eat meat and fish four months ago. But I think I'd better write a blog entry to explain it :)
